The VIOFO A229 Pro-W 2CH records your trip with two cameras simultaneously. The front records in 4K at 30 fps and the rear in 2K at 30 fps. The rear camera is fully waterproof, allowing safe outdoor mounting. Both cameras use Sony STARVIS 2 sensors for clear images, even in low light. With HDR, contrast remains more visible. This way, you see more details in rapidly changing situations.
Front and rear recording
The front camera uses the STARVIS 2 IMX678 sensor with 8 MP and an F1.8 lens with a 140-degree field of view. The rear camera has a STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensor with 5 MP and a wider 160-degree field of view. Because it is waterproof, it remains reliable even in rain. Together, both cameras provide a complete overview of what happens in front of and behind your vehicle.
Image quality
The STARVIS 2 sensors reduce noise and motion blur, keeping footage clear even in low light. HDR helps better display large differences between shadows and bright light. This keeps license plates and other details clearly visible. The combination of 4K front and 2K rear makes it easier to assess situations, both while driving and when reviewing footage.
Ease of use
The A229 Pro-W 2CH has a 2.4-inch high-resolution display where you can view menus and recordings when stationary. With wifi for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, you can quickly transfer files to your phone. You can also connect the dashcam directly via USB-C to transfer footage or firmware.
Voice control makes using the dashcam easier on the road. You can start recordings or take photos without taking your hands off the wheel. The dashcam gives voice notifications if something changes, like a setting or a memory card error.
GPS logging
The built-in GPS logger adds speed, time, and location to your recordings. In the VIOFO app or via your laptop, you can see exactly where you drove and what happened at that moment. This helps when you need footage for analysis or to report damage.
Monitoring
In parking mode, the camera automatically starts recording when movement is detected. Thanks to the buffer function, footage is captured from 15 seconds before to 30 seconds after the moment. Timelapse is useful for longer recordings with less memory use. You can choose 1 to 10 fps, depending on the situation.
Low bitrate recording continuously records with smaller files. Loop recording automatically overwrites older footage so the card doesn’t fill up. The G-sensor sets recordings apart when a collision or hard shock is detected. The dashcam uses a supercapacitor, which is more reliable in heat, cold, and long-term use.
CPL filter
A CPL filter (CPL-200) is included for the front camera. This reduces reflections on glass and wet roads and makes the image calmer. A separate filter is available for the rear.
